The program provides the appropriate knowledge and hands-on practice necessary for the student to become a competent professional. The student is trained in basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, good work habits, business skills, and professional ethics to take and pass the state licensing examination. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Diploma stating that they have satisfactorily completed the course hours and will be registered to take the state exam to become licensed Restricted Barber to obtain entry-level employment in the barbering industry. Graduates will not be able to practice their career until they have passed the State licensing examination.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The objective of this program is to prepare the student for State Licensing Examination to become a Licensed Restricted Barber. The 600-hour Restricted Barber courses provide the appropriate knowledge, hands on practice necessary for the student to become a competent professional. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program has been created to provide a formation in Restricted Barber that complies with the requirements established by the governmental organizations. The program is designed to train the students in the skills required by Restricted Barber in their beginning level which includes hair cutting, shave, shampoo, blow dry hair, and apply hair tonics and hair sprays. Students will learn techniques through intensive study and hands on practice which includes study in Florida Laws & Rules, safety, sterilization and sanitation, hair structure, cutting and cleansing, shaving, beard & Mustache trimming. The Restricted Barber Program is taught in Spanish/English and offers all theory/exam hours on-line. Clinical practicum must be completed on campus hours. Upon graduation students are required pass the HIV/AIDS education exam.
